UV and VUV-induced fragmentation of tin-oxo cage ions

چکیده
Tin-oxo cage ions undergo Sn–C bond cleavage upon (V)UV excitation. Counterions influence further fragmentation, as they form covalent bonds to the cage.

UV-induced fragmentation of Cajal bodies
The morphology and composition of subnuclear organelles, such as Cajal bodies (CBs), nucleoli, and other nuclear bodies, is dynamic and can change in response to a variety of cell stimuli, including stress. We show that UV-C irradiation disrupts CBs and alters the distribution of a specific subset of CB components. The effect of UV-C on CBs differs from previously reported effects of transcript...
متن کاملUV and VUV ionization of organic molecules, clusters, and complexes.
The generation of organic particle beams is studied in combination with photoionization using UV radiation at 266 nm and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light at 157 nm. Single-photon ionization with pulsed VUV light turns out to be sensitive enough to detect various large neutral biomolecular complexes ranging from metal-amino acid complexes to nucleotide clusters and aggregates of polypeptides. Diff...
متن کاملDirect measurements of DNA fragmentation induced by heavy ions
Unrepaired double-strand breaks (DSB) in the sugarphosphate backbone of the DNA molecule resulting from exposure of cells to ionising radiation are believed to be critical lesions that can lead to cell killing, mutation and carcinogenesis. Moreover, the pattern of DNA fragmentation is directly related to radiation track structure and, in the case of high-LET radiation, becomes determined by the...
متن کاملPolymeric Membrane Sensor for Potentiometric Determination of Tin(II) Ions
Tin(II)-ion-selective electrode consisting of dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) as an ionophore inPVC matrix was developed. The influences of membrane composition, selectivity, response time, reversibility and temperature on the electrode performance were investigated. The electrodeshowed a near Nernstian response for Sn2+ ions over a concentration range from 1.0× 10-6 – 1.0× 10-2 M with a slope of 27...
متن کاملAtmospheric ammonia measurement using a VUV/photo-fragmentation laser-induced fluorescence technique.
Vacuum ultraviolet/photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence has been demonstrated to be a highly specific and sensitive method for the quantitative measurement of atmospheric ammonia (NH(3)). The fluorescence detected in this approach results from the two 193-nm photon photofragmentation step NH(3)?NH(2)? NH(b(1)Sigma(+)) followed by the excitation of the NH(b(1)Sigma(+)) NH(c(1)Pi) transi...
